Myroslav Dumanskyi
Myroslav Dumanskyi (Ukrainian: Миро́слав Іва́нович Дума́нський, June 17, 1929, Ivano-Frankivsk region - † April 1, 1996, Ivano-Frankivsk) is a Ukrainian football plater, a coach. A former halfback of Ivano-Frankivsk football club "Spartacus" and "Shakhtar" (Stalino). He began to play football in 1945.
He was the first Master of Sports of the USSR Football Cup in Ivano-Frankivsk region. He was honored with this sport title for the third place won by the National Team of the Ukrainian SSR during the football tournament of People`s Spartakiade of the USSR in 1956.
Since 1995 there has been held a Cup in honour of
Myroslav Dumanskyi. He graduated from Lviv State Institute of Physical
Education. He was a disciple of Ivano-Frankivsk football. He started his career
as a halfback in Stanislavskyi Garrison House of Officers. But after its
breaking up in 1951 he moved to Lviv, where he played for a local House of
Officers. From 1953 to 1956 Myroslav Dumanskyi played in the team “Shakhtar”
(Stalino). In 1957 he returned to “Spartacus” and played there until 1962. He finished
his career in Dolyna football club “Naftovyk” (Oilman). He had two sons
Yaroslav and Gennadiy. Myroslav Dumanskyi passed on the Football baton to his
younger son Yaroslav. In 1978 and 1979 he won “bronze” and “gold” medals
respectively at the junior European Championships, and in 1979 he was a silver

At the beginning of 1957 for family reasons he returned to his hometown and together with his brother Yevgen became a “motor” of the local team “Spartacus,” which reached the quarterfinals of the USSR Cup, won the group tournament of Class “B”. During that season the team nearly burst into the class of the strongest – it took the second place at the transitional tournament for the right to play in the Premier League of the SSSR Championship. The brothers skillfully led the game; they became “think tank” of red-and-white team. Myroslav was distinguished not only by his skillful actions of a game leader. He - the idol of local fans - was the leader by the game and by the spirit. Dumanskyi played for “Spartacus” for five seasons. The captain over a long time became personification of reliability at the football field and outside it, a model of professional attitude to his occupation; he was demanding of others and himself.

Coaching career
1964-1965 “Naftovyk” (Oilman), (Dolyna). - 1965-1969 “Spartacus” (Ivano-Frankivsk). - From 1975 to 1996 - the director of football school of Olympic reserve “Spartacus” (Ivano-Frankivsk).
In 1963 Myroslav Dumanskyi hanged up his boots and became a football coach. In this area he entirely revealed his talent. His rich experience of a player, ability to help people, compassion, efficiency and adherence to principles were the pledge of further progress of his teams. He began his coaching activity at the regional level – at first he was a coach of Ivano-Frankivsk Football Club “Elektron”, and later he became a player-coach of Dolyna “Naftovyk” (Oilman), which became a Champion of the Region in 1964 (for the first time of the team’s history).
It is naturally that the fruitful work of Myroslav Dumanskyi in Dolyna city was noticed by the regional leaders. In 1965 he headed the Ivano-Frankivsk Football Club “Spartacus”, which was in a deep crisis at that time, and in a few years the Club was among the leaders. Myroslav Dumanskyi formed the backbone of the team that in 1969 and 1972 won the Championship of Ukraine in the Class B and the 2nd league respectively. Under his supervision the galaxy of talented local young footballers came out, including Bogdan Horychok, Taras Belei, Yaroslav Pavliskyi, Stepan Rybak and others. The coach Dumanskyi also drew to the team Petro Haschevskyi from Kolomyia, Orest Lazurkevych from Lviv, Victor Kurkotov, Borys Pazukhin, Valerii Golubtsov. The progress of the Football team in the late 60's and early 70’s – a legendary “Spartacus” - was connected with the names of these players. Volodymyr Saka, Taras Belei, Igor Dyriva and Taras Shulyatytskyi are well known to football fans. First of all, thanks to the coach these footballers successfully played for the famous teams of top-division football clubs.
It happened to Myroslav Dumanskyi to return to “Spartacus” several times - in difficult moments he was invited at various positions of the coaching staff.
In 1975 Myroslav Dumanskyi headed the football school “Spartacus”, where he fruitfully worked for nearly two decades and attained new great success. He paid more attention to the development of children and youth football.
